Relocation Calculator Switzerland 2026
Compare taxes, health insurance premiums and rents between two municipalities — and see at a glance whether relocating is worthwhile.
How the Relocation Calculator Works
Our relocation calculator compares three key cost factors when changing residence in Switzerland:
- Taxes: Based on official FTA tax rates and municipal tax multipliers for all Swiss municipalities (as of 2026).
- Health insurance premiums: Basic insurance premiums vary by FOPH premium region. Our tool automatically calculates the difference.
- Rents: cantonal figures from the FSO (2020) give a rough benchmark — municipal figures are not available.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Relocation Calculator
How accurate are the rent prices?
Rent prices are cantonal figures published by the FSO for 2020. The same figure applies to every municipality within a canton — municipal figures are not currently available.
What deductible is assumed?
By default, the CHF 2,500 deductible (mandatory basic insurance, standard model, with accident cover) is used. The premium is the median of the canton's primary premium region and is therefore the same for every municipality in a canton.
Does the calculator account for all relocation costs?
The calculator focuses on the three largest recurring cost factors: taxes, health insurance and rent. One-time moving costs, commuting distances or childcare costs are not included.
