Relocation Calculator Switzerland 2026

Compare taxes, health insurance premiums and rents between two municipalities — and see at a glance whether relocating is worthwhile.

How the Relocation Calculator Works

Our relocation calculator compares three key cost factors when changing residence in Switzerland:

  • Taxes: Based on official FTA tax rates and municipal tax multipliers for all Swiss municipalities (as of 2026).
  • Health insurance premiums: Basic insurance premiums vary by FOPH premium region. Our tool automatically calculates the difference.
  • Rents: Median rents from the FSO structural survey give you a realistic benchmark.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Relocation Calculator

How accurate are the rent prices?

Rent prices are based on median data from the FSO structural survey 2024. For around 700 smaller municipalities, we use the district average as an approximation.

What deductible is assumed?

By default, the CHF 300 deductible (mandatory basic insurance, standard model, with accident cover) is used — the most common choice in Switzerland.

Does the calculator account for all relocation costs?

The calculator focuses on the three largest recurring cost factors: taxes, health insurance and rent. One-time moving costs, commuting distances or childcare costs are not included.
